Synopsis
‘Love And She’ is a lacerating emotional drama that explores isolation in marriage that was born from tragedy, but fostered due to technology and social media. Isolation can be shared. Eighteen months after the death of their stillborn daughter, Matt and Renee have taken refuge in everything but one another. The couple finally find common, but unstable, ground when they emancipate themselves from coping with social media to confront each other on the reasons for their failing marriage.
As the young married couple, Matt and Renee, unwittingly arrive at their emotional breaking point, the isolation they have fostered together is suddenly abandoned the moment Renee destroys her husband’s phone in a desperate attempt to confront their failing marriage. When Matt reciprocates by drowning her phone in a flower-filled vase, they bitterly agree not to leave their home until they take stock of what truly remains of the love they once had.
Even though they confront the pain owing to their miscarriage, they return to the past as a means of trying to salvage their relationship. The story explores young peoples’ digital love in the information age and the consequences are that those who are in love will often express that solely through social media. ‘Love And She’ reveals the face of love once it has been starved but never allowed to die.
